I have found that the Bangalow Markets are the most aesthetically pleasing markets as people enjoy a leisurely stroll around the beautiful grounds taking in all the sights and sensations that the market offers. The large Camphor Laurel Trees create a lovely atmosphere and provide shade, which is a pleasant relief from the heat of the day.

The Bangalow Markets have been on the 4th Sunday of the month since the early 80’s and are still very popular for locals and tourists alike. It’s also pleasant to stroll into the historic village of Bangalow and explore the unique and boutique shops.

A website has just been launched to provide an online business hub for market stall holders near and far, and promote the alternate market place as a viable growth industry. Byron Bay Market Place enables Stall Holders to exhibit their product profile and source other stall holders. It already has an eclectic range of stallholders products profiled and more will be added.

North Coast Markets - A Great Day Out for the Family

The website contains individual market stall profiles, a chat room, and a blog for stallholders to publicise their stalls, which includes a comprehensive local monthly market schedule. It even has a link to the Bureau of Meteorology to check the weather – which is very important for outdoor markets!

The north coast is renowned for its monthly market circuit which has been established for over 30 years so it’s fantastic that a website has been gifted to the community for the huge amount of stallholders to connect and share resources.

Life has been pretty full on lately with a full-time Web Design course, a house and family to run, and keeping up with my latest creative endeavour – this blog. I’ve had a lot of positive feedback which encourages me, and it’s a great experience for me as I never know what will unfold in the next post!

It’s a fabulous time of the year to explore the hills beyond Byron Bay and visit the famous Channon Craft Market as the weather is just perfect, not too hot and not too cold. The Channon Village is about a 45 mins scenic drive from Byron Bay and the market is held on the 2nd Sunday of the month.

The Channon Markets started in 1976 as a ‘Make it, Bake it, Grow it’ market and has evolved into a huge event for market goers and tourists, as thousands of people converge on the village each month to wander amongst the colour and excitement. There is a colourful website with pictures and information, including a google map to get you there.

Byron Bay is the most easterly point of Australia and has the most magnificent beaches and scenery. It’s a very cosmopolitan town comprising a mixture of globetrotters, sophisticates, artistans and very colourful people.

As a student of web design we are encouraged to explore the net and keep up with the dynamic and constantly changing world wide web.

Being involved with the web has taken me out of my small environment (being a wife and mother for over 20 years) into the larger sphere, where everyday there is something new to learn, something of interest to explore – click a link here, click a link there – I never know where it will take me!

Even though this blog is about living on the beautiful north coast, the net is our interface that brings us together, and I hope people will find some web related posts interesting also.

Yesterday I saw an article about Twitter changing it’s terms of service, and I didn’t know you could do so many things on Twitter until I found an interesting blog post about 13 Things to do on Twitter Besides Tweet.

I also updated my profile in Facebook where I noticed a friend had twittered about having over 200,000 visitors to his Acoustic Guitarist Blog in 2 years – so it certainly is a quick and effective way to get your message out there.

After growing up in Sydney, I first came to the North Coast of NSW in 1982, and instantly fell in love with the beauty of the area and felt like I belonged here. I have moved around between Byron Bay and the Tweed Valley since then.  For more information about me Click here

In this blog I would like to share some of the events, happenings, and the incredibly beautiful scenery from the magnificent beaches, to the sub-tropical rainforests that surround us. I will also include interesting links and web related tips.

I was in a Cafe yesterday where I overheard people saying “Once you move here, you never leave”. It has been my experience, and that of many others as it is a magnificent part of the world to live in, but the north coast can also be transitory for many people.

I also saw this sign yesterday, in the aftermath of the Repco Rally

Church

Can anyone enlighten me to what that means?
